Abstract

Religion has had surprising and deep effects on human societies, especially its followers. When surveying social and human issues, ignoring religion agent –for whatever reason- is doubtlessly against historical facts.  With regard to the importance of religiosity on the one hand and predominance of the media in today's worlds on the other, the main subject of this paper is  to study the relationship between TV and satellite consumption and amount of religiosityof the youth between 18 to 29 years of age in Tehran. In line with this, cultural approach to the media , cultivation theory , and ideas of thinkers such as "Hoover", "Carlson", "Derrida" and several experimental investigations have been surveyed. Finally, with regard to experimental and theoretical studies, some hypotheses have been made and tested in the sampling population. Some of the most important results of this paper are as follows:
The amount of religious belief, religious feelings, and religious practices show that the average rate of religiosity is higher than medium level. Also, there is a significant negative correlation between the number of national and satellite TV programs and the amount of religiosity, while with the increase of national TV'sentertainment, news, and educational programs, the degree of the youths' religiosity improves.
