Abstract
Modernity has made deep and profound changes to cultures by changing lives and media and also by disseminating various user demands. Therefore, emerging religious movements follow this rule. This study was aimed to systematically review emerging religious movements.
The present study was exploratory based on its objectives and the outcome was developmental, while qualitative data and the systematic review were conducted by the meta-composite technique.
The statistical population of the study was comprised of previous research with keywords of “emerging religious movements” in 13 articles released from 2010 to 2022.
Findings indicated that some 79 open codes were obtained regarding the explanation of emerging religious movements, followed by 18 codes in the axial coding stage and 3 codes in the selective coding stage. The first category of underlying elements included the sub-categories of the philosophy of genesis, the form of genesis, the origin of genesis, the form of movements, the grounds of tendency, the areas of influence, the globalization phenomenon, modernity and the media. The second category includes the subcategories of exegesis, characteristics and forms, while the third category involved outcomes with the subcategories of role, significance, applicants, quality, attraction and changes.
Conclusion: In their part, modernity and globalization have basically changed the lifestyle of various social, cultural and religious changes in different societies, with media playing an outstanding role in this connection.
