Abstract

With the expansion of the internet access worldwide and the increasing use of its various contents by adolescents, cultural identity has become a major concern as regards social and national integrity. The subject of this thesis is, therefore, to study the relation between internet addiction and cultural identity. This is a survey research using multistage cluster sampling among secondary students in Sarab province and the sample volume has been estimated to be around 300 people based on Cochran formula. The results show that the statistical population has undergone an addiction to the internet and there is a meaningful but inverse correlation between this addiction and students' cultural identity. In other words, with the increase of internet addiction, students' cultural identity is weakened. It is also shown that there is an inverse correlation between religiosity and internet addiction. Also multivariate regression analysis indicates that about 20% of dependant variable changes are explained by the research independent variables.
