Abstract

. The aim of the present study is to identify the factors influencing the formation of a spirit of religious aversion among student teachers at Farhangian University. The statistical population of the study consisted of student teachers from the Allameh Tabatabai campus in Khorramabad, with 18 individuals selected as the research sample using purposive sampling and theoretical saturation. The data extracted from semi-structured interviews were analyzed using a phenomenological approach and coding to extract the main and sub-themes. The findings indicate the identification of 162 open codes within 17 sub-themes derived from 7 main themes, which include the lack of pursuit of religious knowledge, failure to apply logical principles of thinking, inadequate transfer of correct religious teachings in an inclusive manner by relevant organizations, negative or neutral attitudes of families toward religion, the negative impact of family performance, misuse of ethics and emotions by friends, the influential role of appealing friendship environments, incorrect beliefs and behaviors of bad friends, negative media propaganda in cyberspace, the media’s mission toward promoting religious aversion among the public, ignorance of both media owners and audiences, economic and livelihood problems in society, incorrect intellectual and mental effects, functional effects contrary to religious teachings, individuals’ exposure to social harms, the prevalence of sin, unique challenges in confronting and resolving social harms, poor and negative performance of religious or seemingly religious individuals, knowledge deficiencies among religious individuals, incorrect behaviors arising from personal biases, and people’s indifference to the correct ways of understanding religion as factors that contribute to the development of a spirit of religious aversion among student teachers. The findings of this research can be part of corrective programs for cultural institutions, particularly at Farhangian University, the Ministry of Education, and higher education, aimed at addressing this issue.
